this right here is a motherfucking MOVIE
and because i’m starting to get a little saucy here are some horror movie recommendations from the vaults of netflix
black ghost/white ghost: two short films that take place in the universe of ju-on: the grudge. directed and written by the ju-on guy. both are good. the second one is fucking horrifying and it ends on an even more horrifying note
3 extremes: three japanese horror shorts. one is about dumplings (if you’ve seen Dumplings the full-length movie you can skip this one), on is about a psychopathic movie extra and the last one broke my mind in two and took a piss into my soul. it is FUCKING. BRUTAL. highly recommend.
yellowbrickroad: lovecraftian psychological horror with a super cool ending that just goes off the rails dumb in the last four minutes. ruinous but not bad enough to wreck the rest of the film, which is genuinely very awesome. the monster is a old hiking trail.
dawning: lovecraftian psychological horror that starts slow, picks up super hard and once again ends on an ambiguous, slightly meh note. still a very fun watch. the monster is never fully explained. we’re not even sure if there is one.
No, you must feel them with your heart.
I posted a couple on here a few months ago when it became clear my old hard drive was dying. This is my favorite, mostly because a producer guy once offered to make a b-movie out of it (he didn’t). There’s another two or three from over the years posted in the archives (one is sci-fi oooo) but you’ll have to dig those up yourself.
I worked in the children’s hospital, 6th floor, Roosevelt ward. Nobody ever donated money named Roosevelt, no White House reps showing up. We all assumed the director just liked the guy. Went to Yale, maybe they had some family connections or something. Name stuck, though, so I suppose that’s alright.
Now I ain’t no doctor. Could have saved my wife — her name was Luce — if I was. Her and the baby. I couldn’t cut it at Duke. Dropped out after three months, then moved to Philly. My cousin was a car dealer there. Gave me a job as a sales clerk. It wasn’t a white coat and stethoscope, but it was enough. Least ‘til the place shut down. By then I was with Luce, and she was working nights as a bartender. Couldn’t support us with just that. ‘Course now I’m reminiscing.
A group of friends experiences a night of horror in this shocking tale of terror. Mourning the loss of a mutual buddy, they visit his grave on the anniversary of his death.

First contender of the night. I wonder what’s going on over in suspenseful demon stories.
